The coyote’s howl is real – eerie, forlorn, exciting, frightening – violin strings fill my head, the strings we can never quite touch. Now and in the past they have done this, just as there are things all humans have done from the beginning. Our basic habits seem to be changing; theirs remain the same. Why do they howl – a song, a call, a caution….making themselves known. Some sounds can be ignored, but not the sound of the coyote.
